| 26/27: School Psychologist (Districtwide) | 26/27: School Psychologist (Districtwide) 8-25-26 | Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Job Goal: To support student learning by providing psychological services Arlington Central School District is seeking a highly qualified and motivated New York State Certified School Psychologist to join our dedicated team beginning approximately September 3, 2026. Performance Responsibilities: This is a ten month position. The Certified School Psychologist provides professional work involving comprehensive psychological services. School psychologists support students’ academic, social, and emotional success by collaborating with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to create safe, supportive, and effective learning environments. They use a variety of evidence-based strategies to address individual and group needs, including consultation, counseling, behavioral intervention, and guidance on effective instructional and classroom management practices. In the area of special education, school psychologists conduct psychoeducational evaluations upon referral to the Committee on Special Education (CSE) to determine eligibility for services and complete required reevaluations for classified students. They also participate in and support all aspects of special education programming, including building review processes, CSE meetings and annual reviews, and the provision of counseling services in alignment with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and/or 504 Accommodation Plans. School psychologist duties align with the comprehensive scope of practice described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Practice Model. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): Serving as an integral part of the District's MTSS process, contributing expertise in supporting students' academic, social/emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Data-Based Decision Making: Employing in-depth knowledge and sound professional judgment to collect, analyze, and interpret various forms of student data to inform decisions regarding identification, intervention, and progress monitoring.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Consulting and collaborating effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement effective academic and behavioral interventions.
- Intervention Services: Devising, implementing, and monitoring evidence-based interventions for students in need of academic, behavioral, or mental health support.
- Mental Health and Behavioral Support: Providing direct mental health services, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral management support.
- Support for Students with Disabilities: Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of special education processes, assessments, and regulations to support students with disabilities and their teams.
- Family and Community Collaboration: Collaborating effectively with families and outside resources/agencies to ensure continuity of care and comprehensive support for students.
- Promoting a Positive Environment: Actively working to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students within the school community.
- Supporting our out-of-district students as well as conducting bilingual evaluations.
