  2. Take the civil service Supervisor of Transportation exam when offered and be reachable once the Certification of Eligibles list is established.

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a Supervisor of Transportation.  This is an important position, reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Business and, as an interested applicant, would be responsible for coordinating and supervising all aspects of the transporation program.  Supervision is exercised over the work of the transporation department.

A thorough knowledge of school district transportation methods and operations as well as working knowledge of the Department of Transportation regulations as they pertain to NYS Education Law is required.  Applicant should have good all round knowledge of standard automotive repair methods, terminology, working knowledge of management and administration principles and practices; ability to work in and learn various software programs; ability to plan, coordinate, supervise and critically inspect the work of others.

Some typical work activities may include:

  • Prepares required State reports and maps of bus routes;
  • Prepares and assists in preparation of the transportation budget;
  • Investigates accidents and reports of motor vehicle law violations by transportation personnel;
  • Acts as intermediary between students, parents, bus drivers and contracted operator and school officials
  • Does related work as required.

  • Dusting;
  • Washing walls, windows, woodwork, bathrooms;
  • Sweep, mop, wash floors;
  • Strip and wax floors;
  • Maintain building exteriors;
  • Gather and dispose of refuse;
  • Clean and polish furniture; and,
  • Assist in minor repairs.

  • Performing minor electrical work, such as replacing light bulbs and defective fuses
  • Assists in the cleaning and maintaining of tools, machinery and other mechanical equipment

The Arlington Central School District is seeking substitute teaching assistants for the 2024/2025 school year.  Interviews will occur on a monthly basis, most likely commencing in September 2025.  The starting rate of pay for a Substitute Teaching Assistant is $17.03/hour.  Current NYS Teaching Assistant Certification preferred, must have a high school diploma or GED.  Fingerprint clearance will be required if hired.

The Arlington Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for per diem Substitute Teacher positions for the 2025/2026 school year.  The starting rate of pay for a Certified Substitute Teacher is $132/full-day and for a Non-Certified Substitute Teacher it is $120/full-day with the opportunity for a bonus to be paid in July 2025 (see details below).  As a per diem substitute your position is based on working either a full-day or half-day.   Interviews will occur on a monthly basis.

Certified Teacher

  • Substitute for at least 50 days = $500 bonus, or;
  • Substitute for at least 75 days = $750 bonus, or;
  • Substitute for at least 100 days = $1,000 bonus

Non-Certified Teacher

  • Substitute for at least 50 days = $500 bonus, or;
  • Substitute for at least 75 days = $750 bonus
