  • Check the operating condition of a school bus before starting a regular run or trip;
  • Report any mechanical defects of a bus to the bus garage;
  • Instruct/inform students and program participants about practices when entering or exiting a bus and while in transit;
  • Maintain the orderly conduct of students on the bus

Hourly Bus Driver 25-26 #1CSEA BD - Hourly 25-26 #1

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting hourly bus drivers to work up to a maximum of 18 hours/week.  The hourly rate for 2025/2026 is $30.60/hour. 

  • The interested applicant would be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a school bus used in the transportation of students on an assigned route.
  • Check the operating condition of a school bus before starting a regular run or trip
  • Report any mechanical defects of a bus to the bus garage
  • Instruct/inform students and program participants about practices when entering or exiting a bus and while in transit

Bus Monitor 25-26 #1CSEA Bus Monitor 25-26 #1

The Arlington Central School District is currently looking to hire Bus Monitors for the start of the 2025/2026 school year.  This position involves responsibility for the routine supervision and care of school-age children as well as the maintenance of order and discipline in a school vehicle.

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining order on and around school buses;
  • Intervenes in confrontations and student fights, if necessary, and attempt to calm students;
  • May escort students to and from special appointments;
  • Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses;
  • May assist in rendering of first aid emergencies;
  • Informs superiors of observations of student behavior;
  • Related work as required.

***This position is a Competitive Civil Service Position and will require the selected applicant to be either: 

  1. Currently working in, or previously held an Assistant Supervisor of Transportation civil service title; or,
  2. Take the civil service Assistant Supervisor of Transportation exam when offered and be reachable once the Certification of Eligibles list is established.

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for an Assistant Supervisor of Transportation.  This is an important position, reporting to the Director of Transportation and, as an interested applicant, would be responsible for the safe, efficient and economical operation of the transportation department.  Supervision is exercised over the work of the transforation department.

A thorough knowledge of school district transportation methods and operations as well as working knowledge of the Department of Transportation regulations as they pertain to NYS Education Law.

Some typical work activities may include:

  • Maintains and investigates accident reports and reports violations to the Supervisor of Transportation;
  • Receives complaints from parents and the public in general regarding school transportation and attempts to rectify problems;
  • Keeps records of mileage, number of pupils carried and number of stops made on each route;
  • Assists with the preparation of transportation reports including cost of operation per vehicle, repairs made and inspections performed;
  • May assist with the preparation of budgetary requests;
  • May assist with labor relations;
  • Does related work as required.
