The Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a Security Guard at its Arlington High School.  This is a part-time position that involves patrolling an assigned area in order to safeguard our student and employee population as well as property. It may include providing safety at off-hour events, such as sporting events - both home and away.  Security Guards typically work in 6-hour shifts to be determined by the building principal or designated administrator.  Interested applicants should have experience working with children and young adults and be able to deescalate difficult situations.  

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Make rounds of area assigned to;
  • Assist in traffic control during the arrival and dismissal of students;
  • Maintain order in hallways, study halls, dining areas, gymnasiums, etc.;
  • Inspects doors, windows and locks;
  • Maintains a lookout for irregular occurrences;
  • Intervenes in classroom confrontations and student fights if necessary, attempt to calm students removed from class for disciplinary reasons;
  • May escort students to and from special appointments;
  • Informs superiors of observations of student behavior;
  • May maintain simple records of unusual occurrences;
  • Related work as required.
