Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a Supervisor of Transportation. This is an important position, reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Business and, as an interested applicant, would be responsible for coordinating and supervising all aspects of the transporation program. Supervision is exercised over the work of the transporation department.
A thorough knowledge of school district transportation methods and operations as well as working knowledge of the Department of Transportation regulations as they pertain to NYS Education Law is required. Applicant should have good all round knowledge of standard automotive repair methods, terminology, working knowledge of management and administration principles and practices; ability to work in and learn various software programs; ability to plan, coordinate, supervise and critically inspect the work of others.
Some typical work activities may include:
- Prepares required State reports and maps of bus routes;
- Prepares and assists in preparation of the transportation budget;
- Investigates accidents and reports of motor vehicle law violations by transportation personnel;
- Acts as intermediary between students, parents, bus drivers and contracted operator and school officials
- Does related work as required.
