The successful candidate believes that all students are capable of learning at high levels, and has the interest, capacity, and skills to support and lead the Arlington Central School District instructional faculty to achieve our instructional proficiency goals across all content areas and grades. They will be instrumental in the coordination of district, school and community initiatives intended to improve student achievement across all secondary curricular areas. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with teachers, department coordinators, building principals, district level directors, and cabinet level administrators in order to align the instructional practices and resources with our student achievement goals.
Performance Responsibilities:
Specific activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Support research-based improvement cycles across all secondary curricular areas in collaboration with Building Leadership and Department Coordinators.
- Collaboratively lead effective curricular review cycles consistent with the District’s goals for supporting student achievement, growth, and development.
- Demonstrably support building-wide efforts to improve the culture of professional learning, the students’ sense of belonging, and parental engagement.
- Conduct regular meetings with Department Coordinators and Building Leadership to align work, develop short cycle improvement goals, collect data related to these goals, and make informed adjustments based on the data.
- Conduct formal and informal classroom observations.
- Provide direct instructional support to teachers.
- Respond to parent questions/concerns about the efficacy of instructional practices and/or the relevance/rigor of curricular objectives.
- Identify and support the elimination of systemic inequities in the secondary program.
- Ensure that technology is used as an accelerator for learning at the secondary level.
- Collaboratively plan and coordinate professional learning opportunities for administrators/teachers/support staff including superintendent’s conference days.
- Manage budget for secondary curriculum materials and resources in coordination with Department Coordinators and Building Administrators.
- Perform all other duties as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or their designee.
