Job Description

The Arlington Central School District is currently looking to hire Bus Monitors for the start of the 2025/2026 school year.  This position involves responsibility for the routine supervision and care of school-age children as well as the maintenance of order and discipline in a school vehicle.

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

• Maintaining order on and around school buses;
• Intervenes in confrontations and student fights, if necessary, and attempt to calm students;
• May escort students to and from special appointments;
• Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses;
• May assist in rendering of first aid emergencies;
• Informs superiors of observations of student behavior;
• Related work as required.

Job Qualifications

• Must be able to pass the required NYS Education Department Physical Performance Test, which includes many standards, including dragging a 125 lb. bag 30 feet in 30 seconds.
• Able to get along well with school-aged children
• Good observation, tact, good judgment and courtesy
