Job Description

***This position is a Competitive Civil Service Position and requires the applicant to be:

1. Reachable on an existing Dutchess County Human Resources Certification of Eligible List; or,
2. Currently working in, or previously held a permanent Head Building Maintenance Mechanic civil service title; or,
3. Other candidates who have equivalent education and licensing are encouraged to apply and will be considered as allowed per Civil Service regulations.

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a full-time Head Building Maintenance Mechanic with full benefits.  This position involves responsibility for skilled building maintenance and construction work and the supervision of other skilled specialized tradespeople and maintenance mechanics.  This position fills the critical role of a "hands-on" working supervisor.

Typical work activities may include:

1. Coordinating, supervising and participating in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting and mechanical repair and renovations;
2. Maintaining and requisitioning materials, parts, equipment, tools, etc. as needed;
3. Leads and participates in Groundskeeping and snow removal activities;
4. May be required to operate a motor vehicle in connection with assignments;
5. Additional related work as required.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Five (5) years of paid work experience in the building maintenance or construction trades, two (2) of which involved skilled trades work.
