Job Description

This position is a Competitive Civil Service Position and will require the selected applicant to be either:

  1. Currently working in, or previously held a School Facilities and Operations Records Specialist civil service title; or,
  2. Take the civil service School Facilities and Operations Records Specialist exam when offered and be reachable once the Certification of Eligibles list is established.

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a part-time School Facilities and Operations Records Specialist (25 hrs/wk with benefits). This is a highly specialized position combining clerical and technical skills to develop and maintain a series of computerized programs covering maintenance, contracts, energy use, safety and other facilities-related matters.  Interested applicants must have good knowledge of microcomputer operations and software; office management principles and practices and working knowledge of the concepts of large-scale building maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Produces specifications and contracts covering custodial, ground and maintenance supplies and services;
  • Maintains files and databases concerning contractors and vendors costs and performance;
  • Inputs and updates work order information in a computerized maintenance record program and generates periodic reports;
  • Coordinates and schedules a training program for maintenance employees as mandated by law;
  • Develops and maintains an energy-use database and produces analyses of information as requested;
  • Coordinates with outside contractors on safety and health-related problems and institutes corrective measures where necessary;
  • Updates hazardous communication compliance plan; and,
  • Related work as required

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of two years (60 credit hours) of full-time community college, junior college, or four-year college which included a course in electronic data processing and two years of office work experience relating to the building construction trades which includes the use of electronic data processing equipment in recording construction or maintenance data.

OR

Graduation from high school (or equivalency diploma) and four years of work experience as described above.

OR

Graduation from high school (or equivalency diploma) and four years secretarial or administrative work which included computer-based budgeting, financial reporting and database management
