Job Description

***This position is a Competitive Civil Service Position and will require the selected applicant to be either: 

  1. Reachable on an existing Dutchess County Human Resources Certification of Eligible List; or,
  2. Currently working in, or previously held an Infrastructure Systems Specialist civil service title; or,
  3. Other candidates who have equivalent education and licensing are encouraged to apply and will be considered as allowed per Civil Service regulations.

Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a full-time, 12-month Infrastructure Systems Specialist with full benefits starting July 1, 2025.  This position is a second shift (4pm-12am) position needed to support our district's technology infrastructure in the evening.  The selected applicant will play a crucial role in protecting the district's network and data systems, provide technical support for events requiring audiovisual assistance as well as support the core IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, networks and audiovisual hardware and software.

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Install, configure, patch and maintain servers, workstations and networking equipment;
  • Provide support for audiovisual hardware and software, including setup and troubleshooting at school events and meetings;
  • Monitor and support data security protocols to protect the district's systems and sensitive information;
  • Assist users with hardware/software troubleshooting and technical support;
  • Participate in system upgrades and implementations, including VoIP, GIS and disaster recovery planning;
  • Analyze and optimize IT infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency;
  • Research and recommend system enhancements or new technologies;
  • Runs the wireless infrastructure, and monitors and performs updates for wireless infrastructure components;
  • Monitors back-up processes;
  • Monitors and deploys virus and spam protection for all equipment;

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from high school  or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and; Either
    1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informaton Systems or closely related field WITH two years of full-time paid work experience in systems network analysis, design, implementation and support in a LAN/WAN setting; OR
    2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems WITH four years of full-time paid work experience in systems network analysis, design, implementation and support in a LAN/WAN setting; OR
    3. Completion of certificate program from a regionally or nationally accredited technical school in Networking and Technical Support AND five years of full-time paid work experience in systems network analysis, design, implementation  and support in a LAN/WAN setting., OR
    4. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience within the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above
